I received a BA from Vassar College in 1958 and have spent much of my adult life with my family. I worked in publishing for many years and spent time volunteering at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. I am a self-taught artist, painting in any free moments I have found along the way and have completed numerous paintings during my 40-year career, selling most of them through galleries, shops, charitable auctions and my annual Open Studio.
Purchasers often use them to decorate a child’s bedroom or informal spaces in a kitchen, hallway or bathroom.
The paintings are framed and the frames, an integral part of the work, are made by the resident handyman, my retired lawyer husband. I “fancy” grain paint the frames to complement each piece.
The average size of my paintings is 12” x 10” framed, some smaller, a very few larger.
My preferred color palette seems to be red oxide, yellow ochre and a green with tinges of yellow. I occasionally use blue as well.
I paint house paintings on commission and have done most of them in and around the Boston area. I also do paintings on commission in celebration of various personal events such as birth announcements.
Some of my clients ask how best to hang my work in their homes. Below are just a few images on how some of my paintings are presented.
